Join Audra Graham for this 4-part class series that focuses on harnessing courage, strength, grit and honor through traditional and new perspectives.
Yoga for Courage – October 29
Yoga for courage is intended for just that. This class will encourage courage within community. Come ready for a vinyasa style yoga flow, aimed for beginners and level 1 & 2 practitioners. This class is for those who have never taken a yoga class and have maybe even held the belief that they aren’t good enough or ready for a yoga class.
This workshop is also for those who are consistent level 1 and 2 yoga practitioners who are wanting to go deeper into their practice. The truth is you cannot be good at yoga, you can only be courageous. This class will instruct alignment of foundational yoga poses, as well as the basics of pranayama practice (breathing) and will end with experiencing some of the courageous yoga poses, such as bird of paradise posture and bow pose. Each student will be given access to a list of foundational yoga resources to support a continuing practice.
Yoga for Strength – November 5
Muscular strength is built through time and dedication Yoga for Strength will be structured as a slow flow vinyasa class, where you will be moving through sequences at a slower and more controlled pace to engage each muscle and concentrate on pranayama.
This class is for those who have participated in a foundational yoga class, such as the Yoga for Courage class, as well as all level practitioners. Come ready to move intentionally and work up a sweat, while building your muscular strength. Each student will be given access to a list of strength building resources to support a continuing practice.
Yoga for Grit – November 12
Grit is a trait that is imperative for continuing self-improvement in our personal journeys. Humans are stronger and more resilient creatures, but we aren’t always taught this. This class will be a hatha (heated) yoga flow with concentration on fire and rapid movement. This class is meant for challenging your body and your mental state to better your tolerance for grit and hard work. This class is for those who have participated in a foundational yoga class, such as the Yoga for Courage class, as well as all level practitioners who are looking to sweat and move. Each student will be given access to a list of resources for building resilience and grit to become the self you imagine.
Yoga for Honor – November 19
The final offering in this series will be a yin style yoga class, centered around honoring ourselves and our bodies. We will move through a gentle flow to get our bodies warm and then hold several seated postures for extended periods of time to stretch our body and relieve any caught energy or sensitive areas. Pranayama (breathing) practice within these stretches will be instructed to better our bodies and get the full benefits of stretching. This class is for all levels of yoga practitioners.
Each student will leave with their honor candles, as well as a reflection challenge.
Audra Graham began cleaning studios in exchange for free yoga around a decade ago. As a working college student she was determined to find more ways to find balance in her life. After falling in love with the practice of yoga, she continued her path and in 2015 received her 200 hour certification in New Orleans, LA. She initially utilized her yoga teaching practice to supplement educating at-risk, emotionally disturbed youth. She continued to teach yoga to twice-exceptional students and adults in Colorado. She has taught yoga to students age 6-60 through varied vinyasa styles with a concentration on the spirituality and empowering aspects of yoga. Audra believes that yoga should be accessible to anyone, anywhere and seeks to instill the foundations of the practice for every individual in their own authentic form. She is excited to return to her hometown of Birmingham, AL and continue her teaching practice in the Iron City.
